Bindra lands in trouble over land

Chandigarh, Sep 28 (India Report)
Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra, whose name initially figured among those who were allotted 1 kanal plots under the reserved categories in the Aerocity project, has now landed in a controversy as his allotment came under scanner.
Authorities claimed that Bindra had been earlier allotted a plot somewhere in Punjab, which bars him from applying for any other plot anywhere else in the state.
However, he concealed this fact and applied for a 500 square yards plot in the sports quota in which 13 plots were available. The ace shooter got lucky and his name appeared in the draw for owning a plot.
Under this category, a total of 57 applications were received for the allotment of 13 plots reserved in the quota for sportspersons who are medal winners in Olympics, Commonwealth Games or Asian Games and Mountaineers.
The sources said that if any applicant had furnished any false information or concealed information the Letter of Intent (LoI) for the allotment of the plot would not been issued later.
But it added that at present nothing could be said specifically about any particular applicant since no scrutiny of applications had been done.
The scrutiny of applications of successful applicants will take place after the completion of the draw for allotment of plots by the middle of next month.
