Jersey mull departure date for crisis-hit Games

The Commonwealth Games team from the Channel Island of Jersey is considering delaying its departure for Delhi as concerns over the athletes&aposaccommodation mounted Wednesday, an official told media.
Alan Cross, secretary of the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey, said officials were considering delaying the 33-strong team&aposs scheduled departure on Thursday until closer to the start of the games.
"At the moment we are sending a team but the decision we face is when to go out,"Cross told media."We&aposre looking at delaying departure because we&aposre still very concerned about accommodation out there.
"If it&aposs not going to be ready we would rather depart later."
Jersey team manager Paul Huddlestone was currently inspecting facilities in Delhi, Cross added.
Jersey&aposs concerns were shared by officials from Guernsey.
David Harry, chef de mission of the 43-strong Guernsey team, told the BBC while work on their designated athlete accommodation needed to be done, it could be completed by the end of the week.
"I&aposm told by my colleagues who are already there that although work needs to be done - it could be made to the correct standard of accommodation within the next 36 hours,"Harry said.
The developments come as Scotland announced they had delayed their departure for India by a"few days"citing problems with accommodation.
