Food, vuvuzela attract Kenyan team

New Delhi, Sep 29 (India Report)
The Kenyan athletes are savouring the delicacies at the Commonwealth Games Village and going gaga over vuvuzela, a noise-making plastic horn, which has become an instant hit here.
Satisfied with the facilities, the Kenyan team members are going shopping and having a gala time at the 63.5 hectare residential complex here, which had come under sharp criticism initially.
"Our athletes are getting good facilities to practice in the village. We have visited lot of shops here and some of the athletes have even purchased vuvuzela and other merchandise from there. We are very happy and the food is simply great here,"Kenyan team manager for athletic, Peter Angwenyi told media.
General team manager Stephen K Soi also expressed satisfaction at the facilities and said the quality of food at the Village was simply&aposawesome&apos.
"The commonwealth Games village is excellent. We are being given all facilities, though there are still some things (related to cleanliness) which need to be done. But overall it is nicely made. Food here is awesome,"he said.
Kenya has the largest contingent of athletes participating at the October 3-14 Games and Peter hoped that the African nation will reap a rich haul of gold medals.
"Our athletes will get maximum number of gold medal from here,"a confident Peter said.
The Games Village was criticised by many commonwealth countries, who termed it"filthy and unlivable".
The build-up to the games were marred by a shoddy constructions, spate of corruption charges, shoot-out incident, fears of dengue epidemic and a footbridge collapse.
